Speech Language Pathologist
MS, CCC-SLP
Hi! My name is Rebecca Rosenblatt and I am a Speech-Language Pathologist. I'm originally from New York, but currently live in Chicago, IL.
I attended Yeshiva University Stern College for Women for my undergraduate experience. In 2009, I graduated with a Bachelor's in Speech Pathology and Audiology and a Minor in Business.
I graduated from Nova Southeastern University’s Dr. Pallavi Patel College of Health Care Sciences with a Master's of Science in Speech and Language Pathology with Highest Honors, (GPA 3.86) in 2019.
My adult externship took place at GlenCrest Nursing and Rehabilitation in Chicago, IL. I worked with a variety of patients with a variety of disorders, such as cerebral palsy, TBI, dysphagia, aphasia, ages 26 through 94, some with tracheotomies and ventilators. Some strategies we worked on were improving their swallowing abilities, their voice, speech, language, cognition and memory skills. I organized several AAC (Alternative and Augmentative Communication) presentations during my externship. High tech AAC include tablets or iPads, which have software that can help a person communicate their wants and needs. Low tech AAC can be a communication board that a person will use by pointing to the desired image or word. I was lucky to have a very well educated and special mentor for this experience!
My school externship was at Chicago Public Schools, specifically at John Palmer Academy and Taft High School. At these locations I worked with students in Preschool through 12th grade on numerous speech and language deficits, including articulation, fluency, expressive, and receptive deficits. I worked with high and low tech AAC devices with several students as well. I worked as a team with the Social Worker, Psychologist, Occupation Therapist, Physical Therapist, Case Manager and parents. I was lucky to have a sweet and kind mentor who taught me how to navigate a school setting! To this day, we continue to collaborate on ideas to improve our therapy treatment sessions with students.
During COVID-19, I worked for Polaris Charter Academy in Chicago, providing therapy sessions via Zoom platform. I worked with students in Kindergarten through 7th grade on their speech and language needs. It has been fun and exciting to meet each student with his/her own special personality. The online platform has opened up different ways to be successful with providing therapy to others.
I obtained my Temporary Speech-Language Pathology license in April 2020. During the same month, I obtained my Professional Educator License (PEL) which permits me to work in the school system. In June 2020, I was credentialed as an Early Intervention “Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant” which allows me to treat children ages 0-3.
If you are looking for a Speech-Language Pathologist for your child, please contact me. I am very excited to meet you and I look forward to working with you!
All the best,
Rebecca
